Any group of people who hold meetings and make decisions or recommendations.
While the common examples of this are boards and committees of directors of a company, other examples could include executive or leadership teams, management committees, councils, etc.

What are export documents?
Export documents are the Word documents that boardcycle will automatically produce based on information in boardcycle whenever you ask it to do so. There are 4 standard export documents:
- agenda
- run sheet
- shell minutes
- actions table / matters arising register.
boardcycle produces your export documents based on templates - the templates available vary by subscription level:

Your will use boardcycle's best practice standard export document templates, with your organisation's logo applied. Any improvements that boardcycle makes to its template design will be automatically applied to your export documents. |

We will customise your export documents to closely match your existing documents or other specific preferences. This customisation extends beyond 'look and feel' and also includes substantive aspects of your templates such as what information is shown, drafting style, etc. During the onboarding process, boardcycle will prepare proposals for your customised documents based on examples or input you provide for your approval. Because these documents a customised to your preferences, no automatic changes are made to your export documents. Enterprise subscriptions include adjusting your customised documents once per subscription period (12 months). Replacing or making major changes may incur and additional fee. |
What are Company-level and Forum-level templates?
boardcycle has a 3 level hierarchy:
- organisation
- company
- forum (board/committee)
Your account will include 1 organisation. An organisation can have multiple companies within it, and then a company can have multiple forums within it.
Template export documents can then be applied at different levels of this hierarchy depending on what your subscription level allows.
Organisation-level templates are boardcycle's default approach (and the only approach available at our Essentials subscription level). This means that all export documents created by boardcycle will be created based on a single set of export documents. This delivers high consistency across all companies and forums within that organisation.
Company-level templates are available at our Pro subscription level and allow you to use different templates for each company in your boardcycle account. This allows you to deliver different outputs for each company, but still ensure consistency across the boards/committees in each company.
Forum-level templates, which are available at our Enterprise subscription level, allow you to use different templates for each board/committee within a Company.
While these different options allow a high degree of flexibility and boardcycle manages your template export documents for you, our recommended approach is to use template export documents at the highest level of boardcycle's hierarchy as possible, and only introduce new templates at lower levels where it is essential to do so.
